Open to Joy - Sagittarius Musings

She is expansive. She is joyful. She is energetic. She is adventurous. She is constantly moving. She is wise. She is Sagittarius.

In our final installment of the Cosmic Musings series, we explore the energy of Sagittarius. This mutable fire sign is open to change, new horizons and an expansion of perspective and experience. Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of prosperity, growth and miracles, Sagittarius knows no bounds. Passionate and wise, Sagittarius can be impulsive, fickle and arrogant when in her less developed form. At her best, Sagittarius teaches us to harness joy when following our visions, and she gives us the energy to actualize our dreams.

All of our window are open to joy.

The song for Sagittarius season is “The Only Border,” based on the poem “Imagine” by Kit Kennedy. This piece muses upon the world that could be created if joy and kindness were to lead the way. It invokes nature imagery and the arts to bring this ecstatic vision to life, weaving together simplicity and endless possibility. There is a resilience born of expansive consciousness and joy that is uniquely Sagittarius.

The only border a canopy of trees.

Another dimension of this song, and of Sagittarius energy, is the breaking down of borders. It is a cry for justice and compassion in response to the border crisis. The expansive Sagittarius heart would never dream of turning away a neighbor in need, a mother seeking asylum with her frightened children. The narrow, fearful mindset that leads to inhumane immigration policies is the opposite of Sagittarius energy. Sagittarius sees possibility and abundance rather than prejudice, hate and stinginess. This is Sagittarius wisdom.

Call upon her when you feel closed off or shut down, pessimistic or devoid of hope. Call upon her when your dreams feel bigger than your resources and you can't see the path forward. Call upon her when you feel weary and dragged down by life. She is the unexpected kindness, the sudden burst of deep belly laughter, the unforeseen bounty appearing at the most surprising moment. Blessed be her generosity, wisdom and joy.
